Nowadays, manual tasks are carried out punctually in isolated operations and with few pieces in the CNC workshop<\/strong><\/a>, but before practically all actions were carried out manually.<\/p>\n

Before NC and later CNC machining arrived, drilling a tube was done by placing said tube in the machine tool vise to hold it, selecting the rotation speed of the drill and activating the spindle. Placement of the drill bit on the spindle, activation of the spindle, placement of the workpiece under the drill press, machining of the hole and also turning off the spindle were done manually. And as a greater number of parts needed to be machined and more difficult machining actions were carried out, human fatigue and possible human errors increased and, on the other hand, productivity decreased.<\/p>\n

NC machining already represented an advance in this sense, because it made it possible to control the machine tool by means of the perforated tape, which contained the movements made by the machine in relation to the coordinate axes that determined the movement of the cutting tool. In this way, human intervention was not necessary so that the operator could do other tasks and productivity increased.<\/p>\n
