CNC MACHINING: THE CUTTING TEMPERATURE

Hello everyone, and welcome one more day to our space dedicated to the information of the mechanized, whom Curiel Mechanics, specialized in CNC machining in Barcelona. Today we are going to talk to you about the importance of the cutting temperature that is reached during the manufacturing process of the different CNC machining in Barcelona. This factor is one of the limitations in any cutting process.

The influence of temperature on CNC machining Barcelona

During the process of CNC machining in Barcelona, the power consumed in cutting the piece is distributed between the different existing frictions and the plastic deformation of the resulting chip. These works are transformed into heat, which increases the temperature of the chip, the piece and, finally, the tool used in cutting. The latter loses resistance as the temperature increases, resulting in greater wear and, therefore, a decrease in its useful life. At the same time, if the part is heated excessively, the properties of the material can be affected and/or modified, making it more difficult to precision in machining as the piece is expanded when hot and contracted at room temperature.

cutting fluids

We have already seen what effects the increase in temperature can cause when we are machining a part, now we are going to see how we can counteract or avoid these negative effects on the finish of the part. And at this point is where the cutting fluids in the CNC machining in Barcelona. Mainly, these fluids have two functions: cooling and lubricating. Refrigeration It reduces cutting temperatures and allows working at higher speeds, avoiding possible problems derived from an increase in temperature at higher production speeds. Lubrication It is achieved when the cutting fluid is placed between the chip and the tool, reducing the friction force and preventing the edge from growing. We call these fluids drills that contain reagents that adhere to the surface to be lubricated, facilitating sliding, reducing friction and, therefore, reducing the cutting temperature.
