The grinding machine is a very important piece in a workshop of mechanized, because it is used to fix and rectify pieces both in large dimensions and in surface finishes and can carry out functions such as polishing or lapping.

Five types of grinding machines

As workshop of mechanized We are going to talk to you about grinding machines, an essential element to correct and finish perfecting some pieces.

Flat or surface grinding machines

Tangentials; When the grinding wheel rotates on a vertical spindle, working flat against the piece in question and moves in a circular and pendulum manner. It is used for high precision work on flat, inclined or flared surfaces as well as slots, recesses or profiles. The machining workshop parts rectified in this way are bearings, guides, dies, plates, rings, moulds, pins and profiles for tooling, precision rings or segments, etc. The dimensions of the pieces can vary between 40 cm and 6 meters long and between 70 and 80 cm and 1 meter long.

Frontals; The grinding wheel rotates on a vertical spindle, working flat against the piece and moving in a straight motion. It is used for rapid removal of material and sometimes high precision can be achieved.

Cylindrical grinding machines

In this case, the grinding machines have a central axis of rotation and are classified into three groups:

  • Internal cylindrical grinding machine; Which takes place inside the piece and the grinding wheel is smaller than the width of the piece, which is held only by a magnetic ring that prevents movement.
  • External cylindrical grinding machine; They are used for the external surface of the piece between centers, which allow it to make the relevant rotation. At the same time the grinding wheel rotates in the same direction when it comes into contact with the piece.
  • Centerless grinding machines. These machines grind small cylindrical parts such as bolts, pins or bushings. It has two wheels that rotate in the same direction and the piece is placed in the middle, without any type of support that rotates in the opposite direction to that of the wheels. It is driven by the movement of the drive wheel, having an inclination between 1 and 5 degrees, depending on the hardness of the material to be rectified and the diameter of the piece.

Universal grinding machines

In this case, they are machines that provide greater work capacity, because they mechanize bodies of revolution. They are capable of grinding exteriors and interiors of camshafts, interiors of cylinders, crankshafts, cones...

Special grinding machines

They serve to correct pieces that have certain characteristics that prevent them from rotating on themselves. They have a vertical bone and the grinding wheel rotates and also performs a circular translation. They are usually used to grind many parts such as profiles, gear wheels, gears, cylinders...

Grinding machines with CNC systems

These machines have a CNC control system and have multiple advantages over other grinding machines. They are the ones we use in our workshop of mechanized.

  • Movements can be unified to rectify parts in a single machine
  • The operator makes minimal intervention
  • Magnetic clamping system
  • Availability of different forms of benches or work tables
  • Improvement of times and precision of grinding parts
  • Very precise positioning of the piece, because it has servomotors for each axis
  • Cartesian coordinates can be programmed and the exact distance of grinding parts can be stipulated
  • Closed environments are external projection of chips, waste or dust...

In our workshop of mechanized We carry out different types of grinding and we have the best machinery on the market to provide the best precision machining to our clients.
